Desert trumpet (Eriogonum inflatum) is a common desert plant, conspicuous because of the stark, swollen, gray-green stems. It is common in sandy to gravelly washes, mixed grasslands, and desert landscapes of Southwestern North America. The yellow flowers are minuscule, only 2 to 3 millimeters long, and are arranged in groups at the end of very thin branches. The leaves form a rosette at the base of the main stem. Dried stems were used by Native Americans as tobacco pipes, hence its common names.. These data have been produced as part of the CCGP.
