Using the New SHRP2 Naturalistic Driving Study Safety Databases to Examine Safety Concerns for Older Drivers

Project Description This project focuses on older drivers' navigation of signalized intersections, including when turning. Drivers 65 years of age and older account for a disproportionate number of traffic crashes and fatalities. This project uses SHRP2 data to better understand older drivers' behavior at signalized intersections, both when they are turning, especially their left turns, and when they go straight through intersections. Data Request Scope The data provided includes 18 CSV files of questionaire and summary data, 604 CSV files of timeseries data, and 595 MP4 files of video epochs.
