Images and Report from Level 2 Descriptive Historic Building Recording at Kellingley Social Club, Marine Villa Road, Knottingley, West Yorkshire, June 2025

This collection comprises images and a report from a Level 2 Descriptive Historic Building Recording at Kellingley Social Club, Marine Villa Road, Knottingley, West Yorkshire. The work was carried out by York Archaeology in June 2025 in advance of the proposed demolition of the building, as part of the Knottingley and Ferrybridge Masterplan. The results of the historic building recording, together with the historical research, identified that Kellingley Social Club was built in the mid-1960s to cater for the miners and their families' social and sport activities, including a youth club, bowling alley and additional sport facilities around the building. The historic building recording has been undertaken to an appropriate level, as recommended by the Senior Archaeologist of West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service, on behalf of Wakefield Council, as part of the planning condition.
