BPA is a part of the ACT Strategic Bushfire Management Plan. It defines areas of the ACT that have been assessed as being at high risk to life and property due to bushfires. Identifying the at-risk areas on the BPA map provides the means by which people in the community can assess their personal level of risk, assist in the development of their Bushfire Survival Plan, and provide the basis for targeted community education and awareness campaigns for bushfires. Furthermore, the ACT Bushfire management standards outline best practice for construction of building located within the BPA. The outcome of your search is only valid for the day the search is made. The BPA is reviewed annually and amended as required to reflect changes in land use and tenure. As the new BPA is approved by the Emergency Services Commissioner they are updated on this mapping tool and circumstances do change. If any part of a block is identified as within the BPA, consideration needs to be given to assessing bushfire risk for any new development, or significant renovation on this block.
