The function of Akt in the developing brain

Malformations of cortical development (MCD) is a severe developmental disease. Patients with MCD have severe neurological disorders including developmental delay, intellectual disability and seizures. AKT mutations were found in the MCD patients. However, the function of Akt during brain development is still unclear. We want to generate a MCD mouse model through genetically deleting Akt in the brain. We also want to analyze the affected gene expression network by Akt deletion and uncover the mechanism of Akt regulating brain development.
