Human Disease-Protein Mapping Dataset (HDPM-Dataset) from UniProt

This dataset provides a structured mapping between human pathologies and their associated proteins, extracted from the UniProt bioinformatics portal. The collection comprises a randomly selected sample of 2,000 human diseases obtained from the official UniProt disease sitemap. The resource is provided in a flattened tabular format to facilitate large-scale computational analysis. Each record represents a unique association between a disease and a protein, ensuring that all entries belong to the same organism (Homo sapiens), as the study focuses exclusively on human clinical pathologies. This dataset is intended for researchers in bioinformatics, medical genomics, and data science. The dataset includes the following attributes for each record: acronym: The official abbreviation or short name of the disease. definition: A comprehensive clinical description of the pathology. keywords: Specific bioinformatic tags associated with the disease category. url: The direct link to the disease entry on the UniProt website. gene: The official symbol of the gene associated with the protein. organism: The taxonomic name of the species (Homo sapiens). residues: The total length of the protein sequence in amino acids. variants: The number of reported natural variants/mutations for that specific protein. The data was harvested using a modular Python-based scraper.
