The COVID-19 pandemic led to a substantial shift in commuting patterns in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The share of workers and students who did not travel to their place of work or studies more than doubled as compared to pre-pandemic. Meanwhile, the share of workers and students commuting at least five days per week dropped from 60 percent to 37 percent.
