资源简介:
Methane ebullition hotspots are a class of ebullition point-source seeps that bubble year-round (Walter Anthony et al. 2010). Bubbling rates are sufficiently high to maintain a nearly ice-free cavity in winter lake ice. Bubbling rates associated with hotspot seeps are reported in Walter Anthony and Anthony (2013). On the shoulder seasons hotspots are identified as open holes in lake ice generated by active bubbling. Locations were mapped with a hand-held GPS. This shapefile data set contains the locations of methane ebullition hotspots on interior Alaska thermokarst lakes. It is useful for understanding locations of the highest methane ebullition emissions in lakes, which typically is derived from microbial decomposition of thawed permafrost organic matter along expanding thermokarst margins of lakes older than 60 years and throughout new (less than 60 years old) thermokarst lakes. This data set was derived from Walter Anthony et al. (2020 in press). Walter Anthony, K. M., Lindgren, P., Hanke, P., Engram, M., Anthony, P., Daanen, R.
