European Southern Observatory - Publication Output 1969 - 1978 According to Annual Reports

This dataset comprises journal articles recorded in the official annual reports of the European Southern Observatory ESO. Inclusion is based on ESO’s own publication lists, which distinguish between “staff publications” (produced within the organization) and “publications based on observations made at the ESO Observatory” (authored by external researchers using ESO facilities in Chile).The dataset covers a ten-year period beginning with the onset of documented publication activity in 1969. The delay between ESO’s founding and the appearance of publications reflects the time required to construct and operationalize its scientific instruments.The dataset therefore captures both internal and infrastructure-based external research outputs formally recognized by ESO during its early operational phase.
