Evolution of vision in West African cichlids

This project investigates the genetic and ecological diversity of Coptodon cichlids endemic to Lake Bermin, a small crater lake in Cameroon. Using high-throughput sequencing and molecular tools, we analyzed opsin gene variation and expression to explore adaptations in visual systems in relation to the lake's limnological properties.
