Sequencing and de novo assembly of the complete genome of P. aeruginosa MPAO1*, the parental strain of the transposon mutant collection. Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain:MPAO1

P. aeruginosa PAO1 was obtained from Prof. Barbara H. Iglewski (University of Rochester Medical Center) as described (Jacobs, M.A. et al., PNAS 2003 100:14339-14334), and is referred to as MPAO1. This isolate was chosen over the sequenced one (Stover, C. K. et al., 2000, Nature 406:959-964) due to its wild-type twitching motility function. Some differences of the MPAO1 strain compared to the PAO1 strain, including an inversion and several single nucleotide variations, were described later (Klockgether J. et al., 2010 JBac 192:1113-1121).
