This dataset provides monthly average wind speed data at 1km resolution for China, spanning January to December 2000. It is developed based on monthly average wind speed records from 824 national reference and basic meteorological stations across China for the same period. After strict quality control and screening, 1km-resolution topographic Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of the entire country was employed as a covariate, and spatial interpolation was conducted using the Thin Plate Spline (TPS) method via the ANUSPLIN software, generating monthly grid point data of China's land surface at a 1km×1km horizontal resolution for January to December 2000. For efficient storage, all data are stored in int16 format, with a unit of 0.1 m/s. Each annual dataset includes 12 data files, named by concatenating the year and the month; for instance, 20001 corresponds to the data for January 2000. The geographic coverage of this dataset encompasses the main land areas of China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions), excluding regions such as the South China Sea islands and reefs.
