Transcription is regulated by the cis-regulatory components including promoters and enhancers and transcription factors, which together orchestrate transcriptional output in response to various stimuli.In hybrid animals between different species (subspecies), the disruptions of transcriptional regulation were frequently observed probably due to the incompatibilities between cis-regulatory components and transcription factors that are polymorphic between different species (subspecies). It was implied that the incompatibilities occur more frequently in germ cells than in other somatic cells. In this study, we evaluate the level of transcriptional misregulation in both germ cells and somatic cells from hybrid animals such as mouse chromosome substitution strains. The result of this study will answer the question of whether the reproductive genes make the cis-trans transcriptional regulation evolve rapidly as compared to other genes including the house keeping ones.
