During brain aging, neuroglia undergo cellular and molecular alterations that disrupt their homeostatic function. In aged white matter, these changes impair myelin sheath maintenance, contributing to myelin pathology and degeneration. Calorie restriction has the potential to reprogram cellular process, slowing these age-related changes. Here we present a single nuclei resolution, transcriptomics dataset evaluating the molecular profile of oligodendrocytes and microglia in response to lifelong CR in aging rhesus monkeys.
