We present a draft genome for the red seaweed Asparagopsis taxiformis (Bonnemaisoniceae, Rhodophyta). The genome presented is from A. taxiformis Lineage 6 (Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia), the specific lineage upon which the original discovery work was for the use of this seaweed as a feed additive for methane reduction. The genome size of this genome is 142 Mb that contains 70.67% repeat regions and over ten thousand protein-coding genes.
