Atopic eczema (AE) is a highly prevalent inflammatory skin disorder in children, with growing evidence underscoring the role of gut microbiota dysbiosis in its pathogenesis. However, the specific mechanisms by which gut microbes and their metabolic products contribute to AE development remain poorly understood. This study employed an integrated multi-omics approach to investigate the gut ecosystem in pediatric AE. Fecal samples from affected children and matched controls were analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing to profile the gut microbiota and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based metabolomics to characterize the fecal metabolome. Significant gut microbial dysbiosis was observed in children with AE, marked by reduced species diversity and altered community structure.
