Collected moisture data in ACA

The collection of moisture records in the arid central Asia (ACA) followed the these criteria. First, the records should be from that part of ACA climatologically dominated by the mid-latitude westerlies. Several records from the central Mongolian Plateau (e.g., Lake Juyan), or near the modern summer monsoon boundary (e.g., Lake Telmen, Hovsgol Nur), were excluded due to the possible influence of the Asian summer monsoon. Second, the records should be based on a proxy confirmed by the original investigators to reflect moisture or precipitation changes. Third, the records should span at least 10,000 years and be free of sedimentary hiatuses. Fourth, the records should have at least five age control points during the Holocene, and the new age models were re-constructed if the time series were based on radiocarbon dating with calibration curves older than IntCal09.
