United States Alter Descriptions

List of Alters identified through empirical research to inform ego-centric social network visualising implementation of the norm of nonrefoulement in the United States at the US-Mexico land border in 2019. Alters have direct and indirect links (edges) to categories of individual asylum seekers through participation in the asylum legal decision-making process. In identifying Alters, the smallest level organisational unit possible was used, based upon the descriptions made available through the empirical work. Alters are collective entities at an agency or sub-agency level, rather than an individual job role, which allows for better triangulation of data.
