资源简介:
Data from four PROVOLO Seaglider missions in the Norwegian Sea:
- Mission sg561_LBE1, from 2016-05-04 to 2017-01-13
- Mission sg560_MR1, from 2016-06-09 to 2017-01-13
- Mission sg563_LBE2, from 2017-01-13 to 2017-07-24
- Mission sg562_MR2, from 2017-01-13 to 2017-09-12
The PROVOLO missions cover the Lofoten Basin, with focus on the permanent
Lofoten Basin Eddy (LBE1 and LBE2), and the Mohn Ridge (MR1 and MR2),
with focus on the frontal region between the cold waters in the Greenland Sea
and the warm waters in the Norwegian Sea.
PROVOLO (Watermass transformation processes and vortex dynamics in the
Lofoten Basin of the Norwegian Sea) is led at the Geophysical Institute,
University of Bergen (PI: Ilker Fer) and is funded by the Research Council
of Norway (project number 250784) for the period 01.01.2016-31.12.2019.
PROVOLO studies the processes and pathways of energy transfer
and mixing in the Lofoten Basin and their role in water mass transformation.
The data set is organized as one file per mission and includes quality-controlled,
1-decibar vertically interpolated profiles of water column temperature and salinity
in the upper 1000 m. Depth-averaged currents are also provided. The summary and
comments sections of each file have a descripton of the corresponding data set.
