This dataset contains the geochemical, gas composition, and thermodynamic data associated with the study “Energetic Constraints on Chemolithoautotrophy and Habitability Data - Kidd Creek Deep Fluid and Deep Life Observatory.” The data were collected from saline fracture fluids and service waters sampled from 2.4 km depth at Kidd Creek Observatory. These fluids represent some of the oldest known waters on Earth and provide insight into the potential for chemolithoautotrophic life in the deep subsurface.The dataset includes:Table 1: Major ion and aqueous geochemical composition of fracture waters and service water.Table 2: Dissolved gas composition of fracture waters and service water from 2.4 km depth at Kidd Creek.Table S-1: Identification of limiting reactants for modeled reactions.Tables S-2 to S-4: Thermodynamic assessments of sulfate reduction, methanogenesis, and acetogenesis in 2.4 km deep Kidd Creek fracture waters.These data were used to estimate energy densities and potential power supply for microbial metabolisms in Kidd Creek fracture waters, providing constraints on deep biosphere habitability and biogeochemical processes in ancient crustal fluids.
