Joannea Botany 6: 23-27 Climacodon septentrionalis (Meruliaceae, Polyporales), the Northern Stingling, a very rare species of mushroom throughout Europe, was detected for the first time for Styria. In addition to the description of the site, the characteristics, distribution and ecology of this striking mushroom species are also discussed.
