This dataset contains Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) imagery with 10-meter spatial resolution over the source region of the Yangtze River on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2019 to 2024. Each year includes two sets of NDVI median data: one for the summer season (May to September) and another for the full annual time series.
As a critical indicator for remote sensing monitoring of vegetation conditions, NDVI effectively reflects regional vegetation growth status, coverage, and their spatio-temporal variation characteristics.
The original data is sourced from the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 L2A (surface reflectance) products. Data quality is improved by setting a maximum cloud cover threshold of 30% and removing abnormal pixels such as clouds and cirrus clouds.
Subsequently, annual and summer median NDVI imagery is batch-calculated using the standard NDVI formula based on the multispectral bands of Sentinel-2.
The final outputs are two NDVI median products per year from 2019 to 2024: one for summer and one for the full annual time series, with a spatial resolution of 10 meters and a coordinate system of WGS84.
This dataset can be widely applied in research fields including temporal characteristic analysis of thermokarst slumps, spatio-temporal dynamic monitoring of vegetation, ecosystem health assessment, and response analysis between plateau vegetation and meteorological and hydrological factors.
