The static identity equation defines σ_K as a share of the capital stock. But σ_K is not fixed. It evolves with investment (J), depreciation (Ac), and the export of capital. To capture this, we introduce a time dimension. Let K_t be the total capital stock at time t. It decomposes into K_prod,t (productive), K_res,t (residual, depreciated), and K_sterile,t (sterile, awaiting export or scrapping). The identity is K_t = K_prod,t + K_res,t + K_sterile,t. The sterility rate is σ_K,t = K_sterile,t / K_t.
