A multi-organ atlas of microcirculatory signatures for systemic profiling of diabetic and therapeutic states

Microcirculation is the primary site of exchange between blood and tissue, and its deterioration in diabetes mellitus leads to severe organ-specific complications. However, a systemic understanding of how microvascular pathophysiology manifests across different organs and responds to therapy has been hampered by a lack of comprehensive, multi-organ data. To address this, we present a high-dimensional dataset that systematically maps microhemodynamics and oxygenation across colon, intestine, kidney, pancreas, skin, testis in murine models of health, pre-diabetes, type 1 diabetes, and type 2 diabetes.
