De novo phosphatidylcholine synthesis via CTP:phosphocholine cytidylyltransferase-α (CTα) is required for VLDL secretion. Mice with exclusive deletion of CTα in the intestinal epithelium developed spontaneous colitis. We characterized the gut microbial composition in CTα deleted mice and the antibiotic treatment was also included to investigate if the colitis development is microbiota-dependent.
