Field survey analysis for - An Urban Taonga: The distribution and abundance of tuna in urban streams across Tāmaki Makaurau

Freshwater eels of the Anguilla genus are in decline worldwide, largely due to human-driven pressures linked to global environmental change. In Aotearoa New Zealand, tuna (shortfin and longfin eels) face similar threats, with habitat fragmentation and modification identified as major contributors to their decline.To better understand the distribution and abundance of tuna within an urban environment, we conducted a field survey in the Ōpanuku-Henderson catchment, located in the Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) region.This repository contains the data and R code used to analyse the survey, including regression modelling, non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS), and principal component analysis (PCA).
