Sales forecasting enables enterprises to reasonably predict future sales volumes and determine appropriate inventory stocking levels. When inventory is insufficient, early warning signals can be triggered to facilitate the formulation of production plans. This approach can effectively improve production efficiency, reduce costs, ensure on-time delivery and enhance customer satisfaction, assist enterprises in the same industry to optimize resource allocation and production capacity, and better adapt to market changes and customer demands. 1. Data Collection: Collect the company's sales and order information as well as background inventory data. 2. Data Preprocessing: Process the collected raw data by removing missing and abnormal data points. 3. Data Analysis: Adopt the weighted moving average method for sales forecasting. The forecasting formula is S=(S1*k1 + S2*k2 + S3*k3)/(k1 + k2 + k3), where S1 represents the sales volume of the previous month, S2 represents the sales volume of the month before last, S3 represents the sales volume of two months prior, k1, k2 and k3 are weight coefficients calculated as 3.3, 2.2 and 1.1 respectively. For inventory health monitoring, the indicator P is calculated as P=Actual Inventory/Estimated Monthly Sales Volume. The inventory health thresholds are set as Q1=2 and Q2=4, and the inventory early warning rule is defined as IFS(P < Q1, "Insufficient Inventory", Q1≤P≤Q2, "Healthy Inventory", "Overstocked Inventory"). 4. Data Application: Sales forecasting helps enterprises reasonably predict future sales volumes and determine the required inventory stocking quantity. When inventory is insufficient, early warning signals will be issued to prompt timely inventory replenishment; when inventory is overstocked, promotional activities should be launched to clear excess inventory promptly.
