Terrestrial Sulfidic Springs Targeted Locus (Loci)

This study evaluated the microbial diversity of seven terrestrial sulfidic spring in the United States (Sharon Spring, New York; Richfield Springs, New York; two springs in Tully Valley Springs, New York; Sulphur Springs, Oklahoma; Pametto Springs, Texas; and South Canyon Hot Springs, Colorado) to characterize the sulfide-oxidizing bacteria that inhabit the mats growing within the springs. The results are amplicon pyrosequence libraries of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene of the V1-V3 region.
