Syracuse Fire Hydrants

Dataset of fire hydrants within the city of Syracuse. These only include ones that are owned by the Water Department and not any privately owned ones. Fire hydrants are primarily used by the Syracuse Fire Department, but can also be used by the Sanitation Department for street sweepers. These can also be used by contactors who have been granted a permit for this. Data Dictionary: Label Definition Definition Source Model The model of fire hydrant. This is typically listed as the name of the company first followed by the name of of the hydrant model. Water Department Nozzle The largest nozzle size on the fire hydrant. All have two, 2.5" connections, some of them have the 4.5" connection, but not all. Null values mean that this field has not been populated yet. Water Department Riser The depth from the hydrant flange to the underground connection. Water Department Date_Set When the hydrant was installed, if known. Format is in YYYY/MM/DD. The time is not recorded, but ESRI adds a default time of 00:00:00. Water Department Lock_on_Hydrant Whether or not the hydrant has a guard lock kit installed on it. The values are either Yes or No. Water Department Size_Tapped_From The size of the water main that feeds the hydrant (in inches). Water Department Pressure_Zone Syracuse is divided into districts, based on their elevations, with Low meaning a lower elevation and high meaning a high elevation. Possible values are Low Service, Intermediate Service, High Service, Super High Service, as well as various Booster Services which provide additional water pressure for residents in high elevation areas. Water Department Elevation Ground elevation above the main sea level in feet. Water Department Calc_PSI The maximum possible pressure area available at that hydrant, measured in pounds per square inch. Water Department Owner The owner of the fire hydrant. For this dataset we are only including the ones owned by the Syracuse Water Dept (SWD). Water Department Location The location of the Fire Hydrant. This is typically the address for the closest parcel or the closest intersection. Water Department Asset_ID Asset tag for the hydrant, used internally to keep track of service records.
