A nematode parasite of cattle that causes significant losses in agroindustry. Ostertagia ostertagi

A draft assembly of the Ostertagia ostertagi genome sequence is expected. This is part of an international effort to sequence 20 species of nematodes of the order Strongylida. The project will be undertaken at the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center. It is anticipated that the genome information will have significant application in the identification of novel vaccine and drug targets.
