Experimental study on the Negative Stiffness Device (NSD)

In this experiment, the force-displacement behavior of the negative stiffness device is studied. Two devices are used in this test: NSD-East and NSD-West. The devices are installed in a test-rig and they are subjected to periodic ground motions at different frequencies. The devices are extensively instrumented to understand the behavior each of the components. The force-displacement behavior of the device is also modeled using the analytical equations derived in this study. The obtained experimental results are in excellent agreement with the predicted simulation results.
