(Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong> <strong>number 642 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong> 960 Sharḥ-i-Tuḥfat-al’irâḳain (شرح تحفة العراقين). A commentary on the Tuḥfat-al’irâḳain, composed by Shaikh ‘Abd-alsalâm, A.H. 1057, in the 20th year of Shâhjahân’s reign=A.D. 1647 (see ff. 3<sup>b</sup>, l. 7, and 4<sup>b</sup>, ll. 10-13), comp. A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 463, and Bodleian Cat., No. 581. Beginning of the preface (different from that in Sprenger): حمدى كه كتاب ستايش و شرح نيايش را عنوان زيبد و اجزاى تحسين و اوراق آفرين را شيرازه بندد مر متكلّمى را الخ. The first verse of the mathnawî, commented upon, is the usual initial bait: مائيم نظارگان الخ, on fol. 6<sup>a</sup>. Another commentary on the same mathnawî, by Ghulâm Muḥammad, is noticed in Bodleian Cat., No. 580. This copy was finished the 17th of Dhû-alḳa’dah, A.H. 1059 (A.D. 1649, Nov. 22), only two years after the completion of the commentary. No. 642, ff. 159, ll. 17; irregular Nasta’lîḳ, by two different hands, as it seems; size, 9 in. by 4½ in.
