Dataset of "The instability of precession-driven flows in a stably stratified spherical shell" submitting to Journal of Fluid Mechanics
收藏资源简介:
This dataset supports the findings of the study "The instability of precession-driven flows in a stably stratified spherical shell". It contains the summary of direct numerical simulations (DNS) performed using the open-source code MagIC. The dataset provides time-averaged diagnostic quantities for precession-driven flows across a wide parameter space. Specifically, the simulations were conducted at a fixed Ekman number ($E = 10^{-5}$), with the Burger number ($Bu$) varying from $0$ to $10$ and the Poincaré number ($Po$) ranging from $10^{-4}$ to $3 \times 10^{-3}$. Data Content: The file includes the following control parameters and output variables for each simulation case: Control Parameters: Ekman number ($E$), Burger number ($Bu$), and Poincaré number ($Po$). Kinetic Energies: Time-averaged values for total ($Ek_{total}$), poloidal ($Ek_{pol}$), toroidal ($Ek_{tor}$), symmetric ($Ek_s$), and antisymmetric ($Ek_a$) kinetic energies. Heat Transport: The Nusselt number ($Nu$) at the outer boundary. Resolution: Grid resolution ($N_r$) and spherical harmonic degree ($L_{max}$).
