Changes in microorganisms of Chinese alligators at different ages (PRJCA039367)

This study systematically analyzed the age-dependent changes in the cloaca microorganisms of Chinese alligators aged 1-5 years and older (over 20 years old) through 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and metagenomic analysis. This study is the first to reveal the dynamic succession of the intestinal microbiota of Chinese alligators with age, and proposed a hypothesis that it can synergistically resist aging by optimizing the microbiota structure and remodeling metabolic functions, providing a new perspective for analyzing the longevity mechanism of reptiles and the evolution of host-microbe interactions.
