Draft genome of Microbacterium sp. T2.11-28, a new strain from the Iberian Pyrite Belt subsurface

T2.11-28 is a Microbacterium strain that has been isolated from the deep subsurface of the Iberian Pyrite Belt (SW Spain) in strict anaerobic conditions. The sample was taken from a drill core obtained at 284 meters below the surface during the Iberian Pyrite Belt Subsurface Life Detection project (IPBSL). It was isolated from a enrichment culture for methanogens in a H2:CO2 (80:20) atmosphere. Its genome has genes involved in heterolactic and homolactic fermentation and the degradation of catechol.
