The Locator of the Deterministic Signal

The proposed locator of the deterministic signal is constructed using an autocorrelator and a matched filter. It is shown that the locator allows to reduce the probabilities of false alarm and miss-detection to zero in the ideal case. This is possible due to the fact that the conditional probability density of the output signal\u2019s count value in the presence of a signal in the input additive mixture of the locator is a delta function. In the case where the input signal level depends on the target range, it is proposed to use an improved locator with an automatic gain control device at the input and a correlator at the output. This locator variant utilizes the orthogonality of the signal correlation function and the noise correlation function. The improved locator also reduces the probabilities of false alarms and missed targets to zero.
