In recent years the labour shortage in the elder care has been increasing. The number of elderly requiring care is increasing and many employees in the sector are relatively old. The demand for elder care workers makes it necessary to recruit and retain social and health care workers. The project is a part of a program on social and health care workers by the National Research Centre for Working Environment. This study was conducted among all employees working in municipal elder care. Several municipalities all over the country participated. On the individual level, the survey examines: Health issues. Social relations and lifestyle. Absence and early retirement. Physical work environment. The psychosocial work environment as it is perceived by the individual. Accidents. Physical and psychological violence. Personal resources. Furthermore the managers in charge have completed questionnaires regarding the following themes: Teamwork and solidarity. Leadership. Communication. Efficiency Etc. This study consists of three rounds. This study is based on data from the second follow-up study (third round) which was conducted in 2008/2009. The baseline study was conducted in 2004/2005 and the first follow-up study was conducted in 2006/2007.
