资源简介:
The CEOS/NSIDC Extratropical Cyclone Tracking (CNECT) project examines individual cyclone tracks for the Northern Hemisphere. Detection and tracking are conducted using the Lagrangian cyclone detection and tracking algorithm developed by Crawford and Serreze (2016) and updated by Crawford et al. (2021). Each storm is stored as a CSV file, which contains information regarding the location, propagation, intensity, and size of the storm for each observation time. Whether a storm is a multi-center cyclone or interacting (splitting or merging) with other storm systems is also noted. The datasets produced through this project are useful for understanding the lifecycle of individual storms, from genesis and development to decay and lysis. They also are useful for examining the impacts of extratropical cyclones on the surface (e.g., wind hazards, impacts on surface energy balance, cyclone-associated precipitation).
