Assessing potential metabolic capabilities of abundant microbes using metagenomic short-reads

This fileset includes data from a single SOLiD sequencing run on a water sample taken from Puget Sound, WA. The sequences were checked for quality control and assembled into contigs prior to these analyses. The contigs were annotated using reference databases and separated by their taxonomic identification. The top taxa were further analyzed to assess their potential metabolic capabiltiy by comparing the genes recovered to the KEGG gene maps of cultured organisms.
