Schistosoma_Trio_seq

The overaching goal of this project is to identify maternal- and paternal-derived haplotypes in schistosome. Controlled genetic crosses were performed by infecting mice with clonal male and female cercariae. Forty days post infection the mice were perfused to collect adult worms (i.e. same generation of the infective cercariae), F1 eggsm F1 miracidia derived from F1 eggs. F1 miracidia were used to infect snails with single larvae, and clonal male or female cercariae were collected from the infected snails ~30 days later. DNA for PacBio sequencing was isolated from adult worms, F1 miracidia, and F1 cercariae.
