This study used data from the Sentinel Plus clinic-based enhanced sentinel surveillance system in Taiwan to examine childhood asthma in relation to environmental exposures. Daily asthma visit counts based on ICD-10 codes (J45.2x–J45.998) were extracted for three age groups (0–6, 7–12, and 13–18 years). Data were collected from 111 clinics in Taipei and 78 clinics in Kaohsiung between 2019 and 2023. All data were aggregated and de-identified.Environmental exposure variables included daily air pollutants, meteorological factors, and surrounding greenness. Air pollution data were obtained from fixed monitoring stations and included PM10 (μg/m³), PM2.5 (μg/m³), SO2 (ppb), CO (ppm), O3 (ppb), and NO2 (ppb). Daily meteorological variables consisted of minimum, maximum, and mean temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), wind speed (m/s), precipitation (mm), and sunshine duration (hours). Greenness exposure was quantified using 30-m resolution Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat 8 satellite imagery via Google Earth Engine. These variables were used to evaluate the associations between childhood asthma occurrence, air pollution, weather conditions, and surrounding greenness in industrial and non-industrial urban settings.
