Dataset for the Article "Does the Venue of Scientific Conferences Leverage their Impact? A Large Scale study on Computer Science

Is there a correlation between the impact of a scientific conference and its hosting location? This question has not been addressed in prior research, so we decided to explore potential associations. On one hand, we treat citation counts as the indicator of a conference's impact; on the other hand, we consider specific tourism indices that characterize the hosting venue. In this work, we report the results of a large-scale analysis of bibliographic data extracted from over 2.5 million papers spanning more than 30 years of research across nearly 4000 conference series in the field of computer science. Interestingly, we find that these two aspects are indeed correlated, as evidenced by the detailed analysis of the dataset.
