NEX-GDDP is a new generation high-resolution statistical downscaled climate dataset covering both the past (1950-2005) and the future (2005-2100 under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5). We generate the atlas of January minimum temperature, July maximum temperature, and July precipitation for China's 160 cities with long-term meteorological records. It is shown that NEX-GDDP is more than capable in providing added value at local scales except for Northwest China. The local information of near-term and long-term climate change, as key references, can be used to improve studies in other disciplines, such as hydrology and water resources management, ecological and environmental engineering, as well as related public policy.
