Three complete mitochondrial genomes of the marine sponges Tethya wilhelma, Tethya minuta, and Tethya citrina were sequenced using target enrichment, Illumina MiniSeq and Nanopore MinION. The mt-genomes are all ~19,000 bp in length and contain 41 genes, including 14 protein coding genes, two rRNA subunits, and 25 tRNAs coded on the same strand. All investigated species share the same gene order. The results support the monophyly of the genus and could help to understand the taxonomy and evolution in the genus Tethya.
