VPRS 9473 RMS Data Base for the Management and Control of General Correspondence Files [Series cancelled - data migrated to VPRS 9616]

This computerised records management system was introduced in about May 1987 to register, classify, index, track, locate and retrieve files which are now contained in VPRS 6008 General Correspondence Files. The two categories of files controlled by the system were dam design and computations files, some of which are now included in VPRS 6008, and general correspondence files.It appears that the system was meant to register, classify, index, track, locate and retrieve documents in the same way that it performed these functions for files. However, it is not known whether this component of the systems functionality was ever implemented.The system also generated various reports, such as lists of files to be brought up to particular action officers and lists of files to be disposed of in a given year.The above functions were performed within the Records Branch. As well, action officers throughout the agency used the system to identify, locate and request files which they required.
