A AgI complex was prepared from azobenzenonaphthalenophane as a photoreactive multidentate ligand. The coordination of AgI was reversibly controlled by photoisomerization of the azobenzene unit, and at the same time, AgI accelerated the Z−E thermal isomerization of the azobenzene unit.
