The total(viable and non-viable) and viable bacterial communities before and after chlorine disinfection in two sewage treatment plants of Hong Kong were examined. One sewage treatment plant is a chemically enhanced primary treatment(CEPT) facility for saline influent, whereas another is a secondary treatment facility for freshwater influent. The samples were collected bimonthly over a year (August 2019 to June 2020).
