Dataset for: Agony of Choice: Advancing Sediment Hazard Assessment by using Avoidance Behaviour Assays with Lumbriculus variegatus
收藏资源简介:
These datasets are the raw data of a study that adapts soil avoidance test methodologies to aquatic sediment exposure and evaluates the avoidance behaviour of L. variegatus in response to three representative chemicals: Lead, Bixafen, and Fluoxetine. Toxicity was determined by assessing the lethality and avoidance response of the organisms. Sediment worms typically avoid contaminated sediment by moving to the sediment surface. To assess avoidance responses, a conventional one-compartment assay with only contaminated sediment and a two-compartment assay with a contaminated and a control site were used. The results were used to determine if different assays could detect behaviours towards chemicals with various modes of action and if the two-compartment system provided a more sensitive response than the conventional avoidance assay.
