资源简介:
Background: The purpose of this study was to identify facilitators and barriers to COVID-19 and influenza vaccine uptake among underserved adults in San Diego County, and to understand factors that influence willingness to participate in future intervention research. This study leveraged the infrastructure and expertise gained through community testing programs to develop, implement, and test novel strategies to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake among ethnic minority populations.
Materials/Methods: This study used a survey-based approach to assess the efficacy (3-month) of the Community Health Worker (CHW) Navigation Intervention on COVID-19 vaccine uptake (vaccination series completion and time to vaccination completion) compared to the Minimal Support Intervention, and to identify potential mediators and demographic moderators of intervention outcomes. Survey questions also captured reasons why individuals would or would not participate in future interventions and obtained detailed information relevant to vaccine uptake and recruitment strategies.
Outcome/Impact: The study generated data on vaccine attitudes, barriers, facilitators, and preferences related to research participation among underserved adults in San Diego County. The findings can help inform the development and recruitment design of future vaccination intervention studies that could be adapted to other communities with vaccine resistance.
