EC N11-1317 is a shigatoxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC) strain isolated from a case of human diarrhoea. It harbours a subAB allele that cannot be typed using current subAB PCR subtyping scheme. The genome of this strain was sequenced to allow precise delineation of the subAB locus genetic location and design of PCR primers for subtyping the subAB variants harboured in such STEC strains.
